If you enjoy participating in 5ks, fun runs or similar events and like raising money for charity, then London has just the event for you. The annual Richmond Runfest is a weekend long event filled with races, food, music and more. There are even races for the kids, so bring the whole family. This year’s festival will be September 14th-15th, on a Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, participants can run through beautiful Kew Gardens in the Kew Gardens 10k. Additionally, kids can participate in various mile races throughout the afternoon and older teens and adults can run the Richmond 5k Pirate Run, all at Old Deer Park. On Sunday, the Richmond marathon, as well as a half marathon will start at Kew Gardens and end at Old Deer Park. Also, at Old Deer Park that day will be the Nike Family FunRun.
If you’re not interested in running, but still want to come out and support the event or see what it is all about, there will be other things going on throughout the weekend at Old Deer Park in addition to the races. These include the Richmond Fitness Expo and Music Festival. Vendors will also be set up throughout the park for the duration of the events.
Over the years, the Richmond Running Festival has brought in more than £2 million in donations for London based and other charities. This year’s charity is The British Heart Foundation. You can raise money for it, or you can give to any charity or group that you choose.
